ICC Wales welcomes Martyn’s Law inclusion in the King’s Speech
“Martyn’s Law” is named after Martyn Hett, a victim of the 2017 Manchester Arena attack, and is part of the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Bill, aimed at preventing future tragedies. His mother, Figen Murray, has been a vocal campaigner for the law and has pushed the Government to adopt it.

Martyn’s Law: Government publishes draft legislation
The draft Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Bill sets out the requirements that, under Martyn’s Law, venues and other organisations will have to meet to ensure public safety. ‘Martyn’s Law’ is a tribute to Martyn Hett who was killed alongside 21 others in the Manchester Arena terrorist attack in 2017.

Martyn’s Law moves one step closer to legislation
The UK Government has confirmed that the Protect Duty, now officially known as ‘Martyn’s Law’, is to be advanced to draft legislation stage, and will be ready for review in Spring 2023.
