The Business of Events, the leading Think Tank and Advocacy Network for the business events sector, has announced its initial line up of politicians, policymakers, campaigners and leading industry figures for its signature Policy Forum.
Returning to IET London: Savoy Place on Tuesday 7th July 2026, the Policy Forum is designed to drive growth within the UK’s business events economy through developing policy initiatives. Among the highlights of this year’s event will be a much-anticipated update by Dame Caroline Dineage DBE MP, Chair of the Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee on its recent Major Events Inquiry.
The inquiry, which was first announced at the last Policy Forum, aims to examine the challenges, opportunities, and international competitiveness of the UK’s sporting, cultural and business events industry.
An initial hearing in Parliament last December gathered senior business events leaders, including The Business of Events, to give evidence to the committee.
The Policy Forum will also have contributions from other senior figures, including Martin Rhodes MP, Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Events; Sherrif Karamat, CAE, CEO, PCMA; Figen Murray OBE, Campaigner, Martyn’s Law; and Dr Shani Dhanda, Accessibility Specialist.
A spokesperson from The Business of Events, said: “Our flagship Policy Forum brings together senior leaders from across the industry and policymakers for a day of debate, inspiration, and connection. It offers an exclusive opportunity for a diverse range of voices to share ideas, exchange insights, and engage with the challenges and opportunities shaping the sector.
“Alongside a rich programme of expert speakers, we are particularly delighted to welcome Dame Caroline Dineage DBE MP, who will provide an important update on the Committee’s Major Events Inquiry into our sector. I know many of us will be keen to hear her insights and to understand the next steps in that process.”
